What is an Apostille?
An apostille is a certificate that certifies the seals and signatures that are on the documents that have been issued in South Africa, to confirm the genuiness of the documents. An apostille certificate cannot be forged, as the official who has been entrusted to issue an apostille, has also been trusted to carefully inspect the documents, seals, signatures and stamps to certify that they are genuine and that there isn’t any forgery that took place. This certificate confirms that the South African documents apostilled, have genuine seals, stamps and signatures. It also does not in any way confirm anything about the content that is on the document.
