Do you have official South African documents that need to be recognized as legal in another country? This process, known as document legalisation, is essential for various purposes, including education, employment, immigration, and legal proceedings. At Global Apostille, we understand the complexities of document legalisation and are here to guide you through the process efficiently and accurately.
What is Document Legalisation?
Document legalisation is the official verification process that confirms the authenticity of your South African documents for use abroad. It involves a series of steps to ensure the document originates from a legitimate source and bears the proper signatures and seals. There are two main methods of legalisation:
Apostille: This simplified process applies to countries that are signatories to the Apostille Convention. An apostille is a standardised certificate issued by the High Court and Department of International Relations and Cooperation (DIRCO) that verifies the document’s authenticity.
Embassy Legalisation: For countries that are not part of the Apostille Convention, a more elaborate process is required. This involves authentication by DIRCO followed by legalisation at the embassy or consulate of the destination country.
